I want to penetrate the soul of the country where I was born and connect it with other places. In my poetry it is mainly the life that has trouble standing up for itself and the elements have their say.
I strongly believe that everything is connected, made up of the same material. That the desolation of the world around us deeply disturbs us. That's why I touch everything, smell the flowers, feel the leaves and can't resist putting my hand on the trunk of a tree. Humans and everything around her are becoming more and more estranged from each other. We pretend that man himself is not nature. That torments me, that's what my poetry is about.

Mijn werken zijn geen direct verslag van de tocht zelf. Ik ben op enkele dagen feitelijk en op andere dagen virtueel ergens aanwezig langs het traject van de tocht. Telkens zoek ik een klein stukje aarde waar de tocht aan voorbijgaat en zet mij daar neer. Vanaf dat kleine stukje aarde ben ik waarnemer van het voorbijtrekken van de tocht, maar ben ik tevens waarnemer van dat kleine stukje aarde en al het leven dat zich daar afspeelt en dat voor even deel is van de tocht. Mijn werk heeft telkens dat kleine stukje leven als basis liggend op de rechte lijn van Varik naar Parijs. In wisselende vormen geeft mijn werk uitdrukking aan hetgeen op dat kleine stukje aarde kan worden beleefd of ervaren, of geeft mijn werk uitdrukking aan het bestaan en de bezinning daarvan zoals dat op dat moment wordt gevoeld en geleefd.
Het vertrekpunt voor mij als dichter in deze magische, sprookjesachtige tocht ligt in de volgende strofe:
Ik zou iedere stap af moeten meten
